Sue Kwon at CBS covered the Sales Genius launch party last night in San Francisco. She also interviewed me while I was at the Stanford Cool Products Expo last week, and Michael Raneri at MeeVee, for the story. The theme: Is the bubble back? Watch it below (CBS also has it up on their site, but its very slow).
I managed to get plugs in for a few of my favorite sites. Three made it into the video: YouTube, Riya and NewsVine. Seth Sternberg from Meebo is also in the video, although not introduced. And there is also some brief footage of Kyle Mashima from Filmloop. Flickr pictures are here.
Thanks to Heather Mosley at Perkett PR for putting this together for her clients (and for me). It’s funny to see two hours of footage turn into 15 seconds of air time.
Any comments from CBS5 about their content being hosted on YouTube?
[...] JD Lasica is a journalist that has been interviewing people on video for some time. I caught up with him at the Gnomedex conference a couple of weeks ago and we sat down to talk for a few minutes about TechCrunch and the state of web startups in general. One thing I learned from this is that I’m still not comfortable watching myself on video - but in any event you can see it here if you are interested. Thanks JD - I’m honored to be included in the group of people you’ve interviewed. [...]

The web seems to still have capacity for new projects and this may truly be an emerging boom (even if its not as sizeable as the one several years ago). I have come across many great sites that offer truly new services. One of these is a site for rating products and anything else, really. From my perspective it can potentially become a leader in the consumer ratings field and stand alongside Amazon’s vast consumer ratings databse. trustedopinion.com is the 1st Social Recommendations Engine - a service that considers only your friends and their friends’ recommendations and then structures and prioritizes it into your personally relevant list of most recommended items. virtually anything you can think of that can be rated-from books to gadgets, from accountants in Dubai to Wedding venues in Saratoga.
