Steve G called me up tonight to ask if I’d read his most recent blog post on inforouter. He specifically asked me not to link to it, but since links are dead according to Steve I guess it doesn’t matter either way. And besides, I know Steve likes the “attention”. As usual Steve is going on in a roundabout, stream of consciousness way of saying “I’m a victim”, but he’s pointing his gun at some different people than the usual suspects this time. And if someone can explain to me what the hell “Then I repaired to the lobby couches and watched Seth and Jonas giggle like grade-schoolers as their Root worm widgets began to tunnel their way into the Root architecture. Jonas and I debated the analogy between Hendrix feedback and the Widget/worm platform.” means I’ll give them a dollar. No one crafts a sentence like you, Steve, but I still don’t know what the fuck you are talking about 99% of the time. All’s well that ends well, though. Steve’ll just change his story to fit the historical facts after this attention stuff plays out. And you know what? I’ll still be on his side. Just keep the guns pointed away from me, Steve.

Yeah, listening to Pandora again are you? You’re just linking to me to screw up my new algorithym buster. No matter, I didn’t call you to read my post, I called you to read my post in answer to your email about doing the Gang tomorrow. Go to Supernova and you’ll see the Worms demoed. The Hendrix Worm thing gets unpacked once you’ve read your new writer’s review of Widget Factory or whatever the hell it’s called. See you at 11:45.
I’m glad it’s not just me that finds Gilmor impenetrable.
That is a work of art. Not the inforouter entry, the naked desperation of Gillmor for validation of his DOA startup, to have the gall to ring someone to ask them to read their blog but not link to it. That does not require cojones so much as a support cradle for his gigantic head.
Steve, I salute you. I didn’t think anyone could look any more needy than PR people ringing to see if you’d received their press release. We now have a new low.
Steve was wrong about a couple of things.
First, I have no idea why I won’t be pointing at him in the future, but Steve is always right, so I didn’t point to him today.
Second, I didn’t exactly say I didn’t like Attention Deficit Theater. What did I say? Well, it seemed Doc and Steve thought they were pretty funny. I didn’t think it was that funny myself. The two jokes that hit my funny bone were other people’s jokes, one from Johnny Carson, and I honestly don’t remember who the other joke was from but it had something to do with grown men acting like children with credit cards.
I don’t know if Scoble will understand what they were talking about, I sure didn’t.
Mike,
I can decode a bit of that - the ‘Root Worm’ is a widget that any Root Vault holder can place on their blogs (or anywhere else) that shows what they’ve been paying attention to. If you look at majestic.typepad.com, Seth’s blog, you’ll see his. Memeorandum and ESPN look like they’re heading up Seth’s list.
As for the whole Hendrix feedback / ‘Root Worm’ analogy I’m as clueless as you - you’d have to ask the brothers Goldstein.
Is that worth $0.50 at least, or am I disqualified due to insider knowledge?
Cheers,
Greg
