This story just keeps getting more interesting. First, Tony Perkins (founder of Always On) has a few too many drinks and says some things he shouldn’t have about the reason Ross Levinsohn recently left his position as President of Fox Interactive. Turns out he was dead wrong, Ross wasn’t fired.
Levinsohn doesn’t let this one go – he demands an apology from Perkins and then forwards his thoughts to MediaWireDaily (originally posted here, but has been removed for unknown reasons):
tony perkins is completely irresponsible. he had no basis for his story and was drunk at a party and thought he was cool. he even sent me a long email (below). not a shred of truth in his ramblings.
The email that Perkins sent to Levinsohn:
This video you are referring to was taken at Tim Draper’s party (I have no idea where it is posted) – Tim is one of my best friends, and we were all partying and being sarcastic and teasing the gal who was interviewing people – whom I also have never met before, and have no idea who she represents – it is also at this party where I heard from one source that you had been given the option to stop raising your fund or leave – whether this is a true story or not, the use of the word “fired” was clearly NOT appropriate, so I am very sorry about that mischaracterization.
Here’s what I learned from this exchange: First, don’t screw around with Ross Levinsohn. This is the guy that bought MySpace and turned it into the second biggest site on the Internet. My guess is he could drop by the office once a month after that deal and still keep his job. Second, if Sarah Meyers walks up to you and puts a camera in your face, walk away as quickly as possible.

Oh… And if you are going to hit on her, do it off camera.
Those damn vampires… They are goodlooking…
You did notice that was me at the end of the video telling her – and the world – that Tony doesn’t know what he is talking about. And note – he didn’t disagree
