[...] There is a lot of news coverage at the moment about tech writer Natali del Conte quitting the popular blog TechCrunch over inappropriate comments by the audience. What surprised me is that given her views on commenters, Michael Arrlington wrote on December 10th when reviewing a site that allows users to easily create humorous doctored photos: I’d make one of these for TechCrunch writer Natali Del Conte, but she’d probably resign (readers are encouraged to do so, however, and link to them in the comments).
How painfully ironic, Mike, that a good number of the comments on this post are so childishly negative.

Even after 3 month after Del Conte left TechCrunch I really, really miss her articles.

She was/is a damn good writer. I would be glad to see her back. I would rather close the comments section than to give her a reason to quit because of dumb comments.

Her ironic view was just funny and her technological knowledge astonished me.

Regards,

René

[...] Could it be that TIME plans to hire popular bloggers, feed ogres just to write short stories about their niche. Is this the first step in getting the blog reader back to the main stream news?Imagine TIME Magazine covering and linking to the most popular blogs. Imagine top bloggers tomorrow writing for Time The ag. Or Natali Del Conte. Is this just the first move to get the blog reader back to the MSM news portals?
Please. Natali was a VERY fluffy writer. I'm glad I don't have to read reviews like this anymore (from the TC review of "MusicPlusTV Is Cool…I Think"):

"This is one of the coolest music video sites I’ve seen but I have to admit none of these genres are my kind of music. I don’t consume content that is nearly this hip but if I did, I would give this site full props because it is well organized, production value is high, the streams are clean, and the shows have plenty of musical content instead of some VJ who wants to chat about their own life. If I were cool, I definitely would say this company is cool."

That's unfortunate that Natali was made to feel uncomfortable. I've felt anonymous commenting has produced cowardly, hateful environments.
