I’m currently in the airport at Frankfurt, in a holding room reserved for flight transfers that don’t have to go through customs. No food, water or bathroom, but by God they have wifi and I am happy.
I’ll be arriving in Istanbul later today and staying through the weekend. More on that later.

Good to have your priorities in order
welcome to germany
http://carlosulloa.com/ This’ll keep you entertained for a bit.
Frankfurt has such a nice airport. The WiFi was T-Mobile, and thus not free, when I was there, but other than that I’d say it’s the nicest airport I’ve ever been in. Also the biggest.
I don’t know if you’re a smoker, but when I flew in, after more than ten hours in smoke-free environments (a flight from BWI, then a layover, and another 7-8 hour flight from Newark), I was thanking every god in the universe when I ran into a smoking area right there in the terminal.
Greg – yeah, there were a lot of smokers in there too. I didn’t care. I had the internet.
btw, the rest of Germany doesn’t have public toilets either, from my experience
Istanbul’s a very romantic city. They say nothing else happens there but that
The irony of this, is as you talk about Germany – when you click through to make a comment it says on the right, “Go back home!”
mike – are you still in the airport in frankfurt, or have you moved on to another hotspot?
A “holding room”? The international area of frankfurt airport’s huge… I’ve never been able to get the T-Mobile wifi to work (personally), but the shops, services, people, etc are absolutely fantastic. Oh, and there were public washrooms throughout the international terminal…
Wonder if maybe you weren’t in some other area (literally a “holding” one)?
welcome to istanbul! hope u liked it.
how long did u stay in istanbul? if i knew you were coming i would give u a city tour:)
