Jeneane - What the hell. Did you even watch Eric's video or see his twitter?

Comments are closed. Have fun with the witch burning. I'd enjoy it, except I appear to be the witch.

Who called Mike sexist? Anyone? The objection to the comment was that you were calling Shelley sexist. Not the other way around.

I think you're listening to the wrong people on this and reading motives into comments that just aren't there. I do know that I read TC often and rarely see Shelley there.

Now, I better get back to my name-calling fest with Laruen Feldmen over on Twitter. I agree with you on this: My GOD this space is getting stupid.

Jeneane - Every interaction I've ever had with Shelley has been unpleasant to the extreme, and I have never initiated any interaction. I believe she is biased, perverse and mean spirited. If I could go back and rewrite that comment, I would. I would take more time to explain that it was aimed solely at her. I would point out the scores of fucked up comments she's left on TechCrunch, taking shots at me. But the core message would be the same. I believe Shelley supported Lane because Lane is a woman. And you people are trying to take down TechCrunch because I believe that.

It's not a sexist comment. It's not an ad hominen attack. It's simply the truth.

If this mob is representative of the community, then I don't want to be part of the community any more.

Honest opinions should be celebrated, not condemned. If all you want is politically correct polished speeches, and you are willing to go to these lengths to attack anyone who doesn't fall into line, I'm sure you'll get it. Have fun.

And Rogers - what hole did you crawl back out from under? I thought your days of trolling techcrunch were over.

Look, you people have already won. You called me a sexist, and you don't recover from that. You're just kicking a dead horse at this point, so move on to your next victim.

Ok, I think I disagree with that Eric Rice guy.

So by these newfangled blogger rules, I think we can all agree it's time to boycott him!

OK then...lesse...what does Eric Rice do? Going to ericrice.com... searching... searching... Er....

Seems like that video was his career highlight. And I already watched it. D'oh! I suck at boycotts!

Mike, You've said here something very honest -- that the blognation shuttering and its aftermath hit you hard because of accusations that its ending was your fault. That your guard was down over that mess, so you were already hot under the collar and what was on the tip of your tongue. The only thing missing is: Sorry, Shelley.

Instead you keep at it. Stop it, and mean it when you stop it.

Listen, being "unpleasant" is a lot different than being sexist, racist, or trollish. If unpleasantness is a crime, then the Leaderboard crew better line up for their strip search now.

Mike, I understand that you feel your livelihood is threatened by this guy, but I remain surprised that you have paid him any attention at all. He clearly doesn't deserve it, just as Shelley doesn't.

I'd hate to see you stop writing at TechCrunch, but I think a long vacation may be in order so you can take a step back from recent events and hit the reset button.

I believe Shelley is the kind of person who sees the world through sexist glasses. She is unpleasant. She is a troll on TechCrunch who won't go away.

This is getting ridiculous. Shelley Powers is a well-respected member of the tech blogging community, an author of numerous books and a prominent advocate for women in tech.

Anyone who knows her -- and many of us do through her writing -- can cite numerous times when she's criticized prominent women without a hint of favoritism regarding gender. The notion she'd take Lane Hartwell's side because she's a woman is complete and utter bullshit without a scintilla of evidence to back it up. I suspect on some level that you know this, because in this weblog entry you didn't provide her name or a link to her blog, as if you were afraid of what your readers would think if they read her side.

If you keep attacking her character and making her sound like she's harassing you by participating in the open forum you provide on TechCrunch, you're going to motivate people to make Eric Rice's figurative boycott a real one. And I'll be the first person to start making those calls.
